- Eric Lefkofsky, Chairman
Mr. Lefkofsky served as Chief Executive Officer of Groupon and is a co-founder of the Company. He also served as the Company’s Executive Chairman until his appointment as CEO. Mr. Lefkofsky is a co-founder of Echo Global Logistics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ECHO) and served on its board of directors from February 2005 to December 2012. Mr. Lefkofsky is the co-founder of InnerWorkings, Inc. (NASDAQ: INWK) and served on its board of directors from August 2008 to October 2012. In 2008, Mr. Lefkofsky co-founded Lightbank LLC, a private investment firm specializing in information technology companies, and has served as a manager since that time. In April 2006, Mr. Lefkofsky co-founded MediaBank, LLC, an electronic exchange and database that automates the procurement and administration of advertising media, which merged with Donovan Data Systems to form MediaOcean in 2013. He has served as a director or manager since that time. Mr. Lefkofsky also serves on the board of directors of Lurie Children’s Memorial Hospital, the board of trustees of the Steppenwolf Theatre, the board of trustees of the Art Institute of Chicago and the board of trustees of the Museum of Science and Industry. Mr. Lefkofsky also serves on the board of directors of World Business Chicago. Mr. Lefkofsky is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. Lefkofsky holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
- Rich Williams, CEO
Rich Williams serves as Chief Executive Officer for Groupon, a position he earned in November 2015. He served as Chief Operating Officer, a position he held since June 2015. He joined the company in June 2011 with nearly 20 years of experience. Throughout his career, Rich has overseen some of the largest online marketing programs in the world, including the analytics and technology that power them. Immediately prior to joining Groupon, he ran Worldwide Marketing and Advertising at Amazon. While at Amazon, Rich split his time between building scalable software to manage Amazon's global automated advertising programs and coming up with TV ads for the Amazon Kindle (among other things). Prior to joining Amazon, Rich spent nearly 7 years developing marketing programs and technologies in a variety of leadership roles at Experian, including running marketing for Experian's Interactive companies and launching Experian's Real Time Marketing platform in its Marketing Services division. Before his time at Experian, Rich mostly walked the Earth like Caine from Kung Fu, earning room and board in exchange for working odd jobs in marketing, advertising and creative. Rich spends much of his spare time with his wife and daughter, often getting his hands dirty in the small winery they own together.
- Michael Angelakis, Director
Michael Angelakis is the Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Atairos, an independent private company focused on supporting growth-oriented businesses across a wide range of industries. In addition to leading Atairos, Michael is a Senior Advisor to the Executive Management Committee of Comcast Corporation, where, prior to founding Atairos, he served as the company’s Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer. In those roles, Michael was responsible for all corporate development, strategic planning, investor relations, venture capital, corporate reporting, taxation and internal audit, and several other financial, administrative and oversight responsibilities. Since joining Comcast in 2007, Michael has been recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as one of America’s Best Chief Financial Officers six out of eight years.
Prior to joining Comcast, Michael served as Managing Director and a member of the Management and Investment Committees of Providence Equity Partners, one of the leading private equity firms investing in technology, media and communications companies around the world. Before joining Providence Equity Partners, Michael was Chief Executive Officer of State Cable TV Corporation and Aurora Telecommunications. He also served as Vice President at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in New York, where he oversaw one of the bank’s media and communications portfolios. Additionally, Michael spent several years in London developing Manufacturers Hanover’s acquisition finance and merchant banking activities throughout Western Europe.
Michael is a graduate of Babson College and the Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard Business School. He is the Chairman of the Board for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, is a member of the Board of Directors of Hewlett Packard Enterprises and Duke Energy Corporation, and is also a trustee of Babson College.
- Peter Barris, Director
Peter joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 1992 and has served as Managing General Partner since 1999. Since joining NEA, Peter has led investments in over 20 information technology companies that have completed public offerings or successful mergers. These include such industry pioneering companies as Amisys, CareerBuilder, InnerWorkings, Neutral Tandem, UUNET, and Vonage. Prior to joining NEA, Peter was President and Chief Operating Officer of Legent Corporation (LGNT) and Senior Vice President of the Systems Software Division of UCCEL Corporation (UCE). Both companies were ultimately acquired at valuations that were record breaking for their time. Earlier, Peter spent almost a decade at General Electric Company in a variety of management positions, including Vice President and General Manager at GE Information Services. Outside interests include serving on the Northwestern University Board of Trustees, the Dartmouth Tuck School Board of Overseers. Peter previously served on the Executive Committee of the Board of the National Venture Capital Association and was also a founding member of Venture Philanthropy Partners, a philanthropic organization in the Washington D.C. area. He has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern and an MBA from Dartmouth.
- Robert Bass, Director
Robert Bass served as a vice chairman of Deloitte LLP from 2006 through June 2012, and was a partner in Deloitte from 1982 through June 2012. Mr. Bass specializes in e-commerce, mergers and acquisitions and SEC filings. At Deloitte, Mr. Bass was responsible for all services provided to Forstmann Little and its portfolio companies and is the advisory partner for Blackstone, DIRECTV, McKesson, IMG and CSC. He has also previously been the advisory partner for priceline.com, RR Donnelley, Automatic Data Processing, Community Health Systems and Avis Budget. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York and Connecticut State Societies of Certified Public Accountants.
- Jeffrey Housenbold, Director
Jeffrey Housenbold has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a director of Shutterfly, Inc. since January 2005. Prior to joining Shutterfly, Mr. Housenbold worked at eBay, serving in a variety of senior roles, including Vice President of Business Development and Internet Marketing, Vice President & General Manager, Business-to-Consumer Group and Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions. Jeffrey serves on the Board of Directors of Caesars Entertainment Corporation, the world's largest casino entertainment company, and Chegg, the online student hub. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University and serves as a special industry advisor to KKR & Co. L.P.
- Brad Keywell, Director
Brad is a founder of MediaBank LLC, Echo Global Logistics, Inc., Groupon Inc., Starbelly, and several other companies. He is on the Board of the Zell-Lurie Entrepreneurship Institute at the University of Michigan, Big Communications, Warrior Productions, and University of Michigan Hillel Foundation. He was formerly on the Board of Columbia College, as well as the Advisory Committee of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Directors' College.
- Ted Leonsis, Lead Independent Director
Mr. Leonsis, 57, was elected Chairman of the Board in August of 2013 and has served on the company’s board since June 2009. Since 1999, Mr. Leonsis has served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, LLC, a sports and entertainment company that owns the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Mr. Leonsis also has served as a Vice Chairman Emeritus of AOL LLC, a leading global Web company, since December 2006. Mr. Leonsis held a number of other executive positions with AOL from September 1994 to December 2006, most recently as Vice Chairman and President, AOL Audience Business. Mr. Leonsis co-founded Revolution Growth Fund II, a private investment firm, and has served as a partner of the fund since that time. Mr. Leonsis has served as a director of American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP) since July 2010, a director of Rosetta Stone Ltd. (NYSE: RST) since December 2009 and was a director of NutriSystem, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRI) from December 2008 through June 2012. Mr. Leonsis also serves on the board of directors of several private internet and technology companies.
- Ann Ziegler, Director
Ann E. Ziegler is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CDW, Inc., a leading provider of technology solutions for business, government, education and healthcare, and a Fortune 500 company. She joined CDW in 2008. Prior to joining CDW, Ms. Ziegler held a number of executive positions with Sara Lee, including finance, strategy and general management roles in both United States and international businesses. She holds a B.S. in economics from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. She also serves on the board of directors of Hanesbrands, Inc.
